Let me Introduce Myself

Hey! I'm Oleg. I am a traditional archer and leather craftsman. Some of you may have met me at tournaments in Turkey and South Korea. Some of you may have seen my work on Facebook, Instagram or my wife's Etsy shop. Now I am happy to tell you that I am starting a partnership with Four Horsemen Leather & Archery!

For those of you who are familiar with my work, no explanation is needed. For the rest, I want to tell you a little about my vision for your custom hand-made premium archery equipment. As an experience archer, I do not recommend simple, cheap, and featureless archery equipment. What I offer to you is to enable your imagination, your individuality, your inspiration and bring this to life in your archery gear.

Each of us was inspired to start archery by some special impression - a good book or movie, a passion for history, or something else. And each of us is looking for a way to somehow emphasize our individuality and express our sincere passion for archery. I suggest we do precisely this together.

If you wish, we will send you photos and even videos of the leather crafting process and as we make your items. And, we always share pictures and details of the final products with a detailed overview of the finished version to make certain you are 100% happy with this before shipping.

The Story of Our Master Leather Craftsman

We want to share with you the story our our master leather craftsman and archer. Oleg is a traditional archer and leather craftsman who, since childhood, was inspired by three things: horses, because his grandfather was a forester and had horses; archery, because of the artistry and skill required; and sailing, with one of his first books being “Captain Grant's Children”.

Oleg was born in Kazakhstan, where there was no ocean to sail upon, no archery school, and no horseback riding school. However, Oleg always enjoyed making things with his own hands and drawing, so he painted visions of the sea and horses, and made toy bows and arrows as a young child. This passion from his youth shows its early inspiration in Oleg’s work today.

After moving to Belarus, Oleg met his wife Alena. Alena influenced Oleg to become a master leather craftsman, as she made leather jewelry, interior flasks, and vases decorated with leather. Together they form a passionate and skilled team. Oleg entered an institute in Minsk, and started competing in horseback archery competitions and evolved his skill to enter in major horseback archery tournaments in Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Korea, and Turkey. Meeting many skilled archers and craftsmen from different countries, Oleg learned a great deal about different archery techniques combined with the history of archery and traditions of many different cultures, and constantly evolved his own skills in combining traditional archery and horseback archer with leather working craftsmanship.

Oleg was also heavily influenced by a memory of an old master who made a saddle maker and the leather working process, how the master prepared and tooled the leather. Everything Oleg has done with leather since was subject to this impression. His passion to make even the most complex items from leather with the ease and grace like the old master, how to emboss using the Sheridan technique, how to tool the leather and work the dyes to achieve the perfect color, and the techniques for sewing leather in the same way as that master. Oleg gives all the credit to the talented masters who inspire him with their skill.

Oleg has made many friends in different countries around the world who share his passion for horseback archery, and he has evolved his skill with every type of traditional bow across cultures. However, he has always stayed true to traditional archery. His experience gained over the years has shown that the skill and sport of archery has no boundaries and no limit to perfection. This forms an area of self-development where you can achieve a level of satisfaction and success each day, and at the same time, your skill is never perfected and there will always be something more to strive for. Perfection is the goal never achieved, only strived for.

For Oleg, his experiences have taught him that traditional archery and leather craft have one important similarity: you can strive for excellence all your life, and with dedication and hard work, you can achieve a level of success each day, but the ideal will always be somewhere ahead in your mind and in your future. This is what inspires Oleg today, and his dedication, talents, artistry and mastery show in his beautiful works.
